A dish specific to the winter holidays, which is prepared around the Epiphany (at least in Transylvania)

  • 2 smoked pork legs
  • 1 smoked pork chop
  • 300 gr mice
  • 4 sachets of gelatin for clotting
  • 3-4 l water
  • Bay leaves
  • Peppercorns
  • Paprika
  • Salt

Servings: 10

Preparation time: over 120 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Colds:


  • Wash the meat well and put it in a pot with bay leaves, peppercorns and two suitable onions cracked in 4.

  • Put water until the meat passes 15-20 cm.

  • Boil until the meat falls off the bone.

  • Along the way, add salt to taste.

  • When they are cooked, they are strained and in the liquid obtained we dissolve the gelatin prepared according to the instructions.

  • Divide the meat into casseroles ... put enough liquid to cover it and leave it to cool until the next day.

  • Sprinkle sweet or hot paprika over it.
